Christmas Wreaths laid on Veterans Graves

December 12, 2016

By Frank Gogos

The Canadian Army Veterans Motorcycle (CAV) Beaumont-Hamel Unit and friends laid Christmas wreaths on the graves of Veterans honouring those who served during this festive season.

The annual event launched by Wreaths Across Canada has struggled in recent years to fund raise enough money to purchase Christmas wreaths for the Newfoundland and Labrador Branch. After several years of generous support from Wayne Evans the event was cancelled last year due to lack of funds.

This year there was enough money to purchase 26 wreaths and lay on the graves at the Field of Honour in Mount Pleasant Cemetery.

It is hoped that the Christmas tradition brought to Newfoundland and Labrador by Evans and Wreaths Across Canada will return again next year with enough wreaths to lay on all the Veterans graves. CAV, along with other Veterans based motorcycle groups hope to continue to lend their support in this worthwhile cause.

You can contribute by purchasing wreaths at your local vendor and place on a Veteran’s grave near you.
